Taken under the wing of the late-great Notorious BIG when he was just fifteen years old, Lil Cease (née James Lloyd) has been a force to be reckoned within the music industry for over ten years. From his ground-breaking work with Junior M.A.F.I.A. to his solo productions, Cease has always broken the mold.

Raised in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, Cease , along with his childhood friends, formed Junior M.A.F.I.A whilst under the tutelage of The Notorious BIG. The concept and makeup of the group was unprecedented - four separate groups with four very different personalities comprised one, larger super group. The 6s (of whom Cease was a member) recognized the difference between right and wrong, the Snakes represented rage amongst urban youths, MC Klepto offered a glimpse into the life of a hustler and 47 MC (better known as Lil Kim) provided a womans perspective. Together, they painted elaborate picture of life on the streets. They released their debut album Conspiracy in the summer of 1995, which was praised by critics and record buys alike, debuting at number eight on the Billboard Hot 200 and eventually going on to sell over half a million copies. Featuring the hits Players Anthem and Get Money, Conspiracy epitomized the sound of 90s New York hip hop.

In 1999, Cease released The Wonderful World of Cease A Leo, which featured guest appearances from Lil Kim, Redman, Jay-Z and others. Despite a strong early showing - debuting at ..26 and selling 45,000 copies in its first week alone - the album failed to make a huge impact sales-wise, due to lack of promotion from Queen Bee/Atlantic Records.

Currently, Lil Cease is at work on his follow-up album, tentatively titled Life After A Wonderful World (due out within the year). Continuing his tradition of thinking, rapping and writing out of the box, he is also busy conceptualizing a book-series with characters based after his fellow Junior MAFIA members, to whom he remains close.

An iconic figure in hip-hop (who has yet to reach his 30th birthday), Lil Cease will undoubtedly continue to excite and intrigue us with his sonic wonderful world.
