LIL SCRAPPY
![]() At 22 years old, Lil Scrappy is in a position to Godzilla the game. His debut album, Bred 2 Die, Born 2 Live (Scrappy doesn't consider his 2004 split release with Trillville his album), comes loaded with potential and thick with anticipation. Backed by his own label, G'z Up, and Lil Jon's BME, it's his recent G-Unit affiliation that has intensified the magnitude. It's no coincidence that two of rap's largest entities came together-it's a statement; Lil Scrappy is just that raw. A combination of a shark's ferocity and a guerilla's commanding presence, the Atlanta native brings an unmatched energy to the mic. The epitome of crunk, Scrappy makes music that turns dance floors to rumble pits and stadiums to seas of bouncing and flailing limbs. Mature and unexpectedly laid-back (guess you can't always be crunk), Scrappy is focused on one thing: domination. Every piece is in place, and it's only matter of a time before the whole world knows what many have for some time now. What do you want to say to people who thought crunk wouldn't last? I never really care about them saying that. They say crunk is just a fad or a phase. I'll be like okay, okay, it might be, but it doesn't matter what they think because in the end everything will tell. Bred 2 Die, Born 2 Live is the new album. That's a pretty heavy title. Yeah and that just means everybody knows we gotta die one day. We're born to die, but while you're here, just go ahead and handle your life, and make it a happy life. Being so young, do you feel like you're on the top of the game? Yeah, I really do. I'm trying to calm down and not be too arrogant, but I mean, what can you say when you got 50 Cent and Lil Jon behind you, and then Warner Brothers too? With both camps behind you and then with your label G'z Up, it must be real heavy with all those label pieces on your neck. Nah, not really. I'm getting one made right now that's got all three of 'em there: the G-Unit, BME and G'z up. Really though, every time I listen to your music it makes me want to punch someone. Awww man, don't do that. When you're performing and you look out, what do you see? I don't see nothing [laughs]. I just go. I just be into whatever I'm rapping about. I'm just gone, I don't see nothing, I'm just off the nut rack
