My Relapse Review

aight....i just bought Relapse last night....and heard the whole album immediately.....it may be too early to judge....but fuck it....here's my review....

1. Dr. West (Skit) - Classic intro

hehe its realistic.....lots of drama and emotion....good way to lead to the next song.....
Rating: 5/5 (for a skit)

2. 3 a.m. - Wow....once i heard the intro to this song....somehow i knew it was going to be the first song of the album....and i was right!!! anyways....shit is hard as hell.....he basically talks about killing people while being on drugs i guess....has some good story telling as well.....and i like the wordplay in the line "i remembered the first night when i dismembered a family member"...its pretty clever.....but i would say that its a better song at night than day time....

3. My Mom - Hahaha....this is funny....but he also keeps it real though...beat is dope as hell....and the chorus is catchy.....people may be tired of him for randomly talking about his mom....but this aint random....hes actually relating drugs with his mom....hes blaming his mom for his drug addiction....its a good and unique concept....

4. Insane - Once again....the beat is dope as fuck....unique concept as well....eminem goes really deep in this one....he talks about how he got raped by his step dad and blah blah blah.....lyrics are dope as fuck....and great punchline to start with at the beginning as well.....but my favorite part of the song is the chorus.....eminem sings with strong emotion and the beat starts getting much more instrumental as well.....maybe the song should have been longer though.....but its still another song to remember.....

5. Bagpipes from Baghdad - When i first heard the title of this track....i was a little worried about the album's concept....but eminem proved me wrong.....yes its a funny song again.....but at least he makes up an interesting story about his relationship between himself and mariah carey....eminem also talks with a Scottish accent at the beginning and sings at the end with an Arabic accent using auto tune.....damn...how creative is this guy....he can be the next Russell Peters.....

6. Hello - This song reminds me of the song "Lady" from Obie Trice in Cheers....chorus is the best part of the song again....closely followed by the intro and outro which eminem sings in....great beat from dre again although he couldve added more instruments.....great story from eminem as well.....

7. Tonya (Skit) - Haha....a different type of skit from eminem.....Tonya gets stuck in the rain and is saved by eminem....but he then rapes her at the end of the skit i guess =P

8. Same Song & Dance - This song is continued from the Tonya skit....i feel the emotion in this beat....but eminem is heading to a different direction with his lyrics....eminem storytelling is good again....but perhaps it doesnt stand out as much as other tracks on the album.....but its still a good song though with replay value....i would like to listen to this song again and concentrate more on his lyrics and maybe it might appear as one of my favs...

9. We Made You - It seems that lots of people criticize alot over this single....but i seem to like it to be honest.....yes it may be the same theme as the likes of Without Me and Just Lose It....but i like this one....yes it is a bit poppish....but eminem still keeps it interesting with what he raps about....i like how eminem makes different stories about him and other celebrities....music video is awesome as well.....and yes....this song was a grower as well....

10. Medicine Ball - The first thing which stood out on this song was the damn ridiculous hardcore beat.....shit is amazing once again.....i dont really noe what eminem is talking about in this song yet....but ill listen to it way more.....anyways it doesnt matter....because his flow on this song is amazing.....and so is the chorus.....its good enough for me to call this song another typical Eminem classic.....mainly because u can listen to this song in many ways....this song can be a club banger as well as some hardcore shit....this is probably going to end up in eminem's history book down the years.....amazing with tons of replay value.....

11. Paul (Skit) - To be honest....i never really liked any of the paul skits....but theres still the emotion coming from paul although its pretty damn short....

12. Stay Wide Awake - Damn....this is probably the darkest song in the album apart from Underground.....the beat is haunting and so are the lyrics....the bridge is the best part of the song followed by the chorus.....shit is straight and hard.....good murderous story from eminem again....its another level ahead of 3 am in my opinion.....flow is on point and hes going hard again....this song is another classic....

13. Old Time's Sake - Good collab from eminem and dre....both rappers switch turns to rap in the first and third verse.....eminem raps with the accent again which makes the concept a little funny....but i guess this is another club banger.....the beat is good....reminds me of the chronic 2001 days....its a little repetitive though....maybe more instruments couldve been added....but its another good song....

14. Must Be The Ganja - This is a nice laid back song.....good for chilling and smoking....to be honest....out of all the songs....this song stood out the least in my opinion....im not saying its wack....it just doesnt come to my mind when i think about relapse....or maybe i should listen to this more...but the chorus is great and i like the way he starts off this song....

15. Mr. Mathers (Skit) - Another incident about eminem taking drugs and not waking up....good drama....

16. Deja Vu - Wow....great concept....eminem finally goes deeper in this song....he talks about how his drug problems relates to his family members such as his daughter Haillie....this is much more emotional compared to others on the album as well (excluding Beautiful).....hes basically talking about every problem hes had to face and that he feels good facing it....the chorus is the most emotional part for me.....i think eminem should release this as a single.....

17. Beautiful - The most emotional song in the album.....great inspirational ballad and eminem encourages people around the world with some words of wisdom as well.....one of the best beats that eminem has produced so far....the singing from eminem and the other guy (whoever he is) is also spot on.....i cant wait for this video for sure....this one is definitely a classic....

18. Crack A Bottle - Just like We Made You....some people criticized this song as well....but i actually would go on to call this a near-classic....its a great collab and all 3 of them do their thing on this track....dr. dre has the best verse....but theyre all very energetic....the beat is also pretty damn good....i could call this a club banger AND a laid back track....chorus may be a bit goofy but i still think its catchy.....i cant wait for this video as well....

19. Steve Berman (Skit) - My favorite eminem skits have always been the Steve Berman skits....and this one adds to its collection....Steve going mad again with lots of emotion coming out from him....i love the drama in these skits....best skit of the album....

Underground - The beginning is a little like Still Don't Give A Fuck and Criminal.....beat is amazing again....and so are the lyrics....very very creative.....espacially the punchline at the end...."Cut your fucking head off and ask you where you're headed off to".....damn.....eminem is a flow/punchline/multi machine and this song just proves it all....chorus is on point as well....the skit at the end is another typical skit from ken kaniff again lol....good thing eminem did not miss out with him lol....great parody of we made you.....

well overall....this was a great album....its a classic in my opinion....best album of 2009 so far....i dont see any other album being better than this in 2009 except for maybe Relapse 2, BISD or the new OutKast album.....the thing about eminem is that he maybe corny and funny at times....but he still keeps it interesting with his stories....there wasnt even a single bad or average song on this album.....everything was above average at the very least....most of them are very good and some are classics.....

Worst Songs
There werent any bad songs....so its hard to judge....

i agreed with the whole review till i got to the bottom....ReUp is better than Encore cmon Encore had like 3 good tracks heard worse albums but its was the only Em cd i didnt buy cuz the quality wasnt there Em my fav rapper and ppl hating on Relapse can suck a dick it will b the album of the year looking forward to Relapse 2 gonna b the album of the year next year cuz im thinkin it wont come out till then but it will b just as dope

My Rating is the same 9/10 cuz it was just a step short of being on Marshall Mathers LP and Slim Shady Lp level

i agree with this guy....there were just a few elements in the album that kept it from being another marshal mathers lp or slim shady lp

like i said....i havent listened to the lyrics enough to properly rate it....and i did say i enjoyed it....it just didnt stand out that much....now it does though....im started to feel it a bit....i change it to 4/5
