It's aiight for rappers like Kanye and Common to experiment and switch up their projects with their music if they want. That's on them. Some may welcome it, some don't. In Common's case the Common from 'Can I Borrow a Dollar?' is not the same Common from 'Finding Forever'. There's all kinds of Hip-Hop like there always been. Back in the day, when you have something tough like Eric B. and Rakim, you have Kid -n- Play.

I guess they don't want all their albums to sound the same like a Gangstarr album (even Guru said the same thing about sounding the same. That's partially why they broke up), as much as I like Gangstarr.
