01/29/07 - DJ Whoo Kid & Peedi Crakk - Torture: Crakk Is Back

“P. Crack is BACK!” are the words of the wispy tone flow from the former State Property member. They ring true as Peedi Crack returns, linking up with G-Unit’s DJ Whoo Kid to give the world a taste of what he’s got. With a debut album that has appeared to be shelved for a minute, the commercially known "Peedi Peedi" is out to cause a buzz.

He first made waves on various Roc-A-Fella appearance ranging from Beanie Sigel’s 'Tales Of A Hustler', Freeway’s club banger 'Flipside' and the State Property 'Chain Gang' album. Yet it was his partnering up with the legendary Roots on ’Game Theory’ that sparked rumors that he’d become a new member and made people take notice. In large part do to the great chemistry the Philly natives shared on the track 'Long Time'. Peedi has yet to deny these reports fully, but does express more issues that he’s been dealing with.

Everyones aware of the "Beef" for lack of better words involving Dipset and The Roc’s head honcho Jay-Z. Well there appears to be a new one involving the two camps, though Peedi goes out of his way to make known it hasn’t anything to do with his Boss’s problems. On the track 'One' where he rips Juelz Santana: “Number one with a bullet boy, I pop a shot at your bandana Santana you won’t even feel it boy/ Crack sends them like Fed Ex express/ the best in the business/ I’ll send them at your bony ass nizzeck”. “You Fallin’, you don’t ride, you lie I know this/ Fallin’, falling off your soft that hoe sh!t/”. Peedi sings on his own rendition of Jim Jones’ “We Fly”. The shots continue on ‘Read My Lips’ as he says: “them bird chains we stealin’ ‘em/ cause nobodies feelin’ them/ throw the sh!ts in the trash, who wanna piss in the bag/ I gotta laugh cause they all took the Dame route....Dashed/ ni**as scattered like roaches”.

Peedi starts off the mixtape giving the vibe that your in for something out of the ordinary when he reinvents the Rihanna hit 'Unfaithful'. It’s awkward because you want to laugh at Peedi’s half ass singing but can’t help but like how Peedi “Goes In”. The mixtape while good doesn’t seem to establish him in the manner that one would expect. Mostly because it seems as though most of the time Peedi was really just doing random freestyles. An example is “Find Us Anywhere”, with a sample of a kids choir chanting over a sinister sounding beat, you expected so much more than what Crakk gives. “Set You Up” also leaves you with a kind of empty feeling, like that’s it? Dare I say S-Dot skits outshined Peedi’s song many times over.

Yet he does redeem himself with cut’s like 'Whoo Kid' where he does a soft whisper flow: “I’m Roc-A-Fella for life, if you heard I was nice/ them mother f*ckers was right/ and who said I wasn’t nice must be sucking a pipe/ somebody get this boy a doctor bring him back to life” on 'Smile At Me'. 'Criminology' were he brings the vibe of a cipher as he spits over a beat boxer is one of his best cuts. But the hottest is 'Knock ‘Em Out Da Box' and 'Callin' My Jack'. 'Callin’ My Jack' finds Peedi alternating the flow as the beat switches from multiple instrumentals. Peedi Crack is certainly nice on the mic when he desires to be. Maybe if he just came harder through out the mixtape it would of been official crack. Yet it’s still a nice taste of potential.
