Shadows



Boy locked himself in his room, surrounded by shadows
Put in album after album remembering all his life’s battles
He knew all the words of the songs, and spit with the artist
He had no friends at school, picked on because he was the smartest
Cried every night and wouldn’t hesitate to cry in the morning
He’d be sitting at his desk and shed tears without a warning
He’d be laughed at, spat at, clapped at and half assed
When his body was that gassed, He knew the feeling that passed
It wasn’t a fun life, but his parents told him it wasn’t fair
But his life wasn’t theirs, it was no excuse for them never there
He didn’t change but he grew, and he finally took a stand
Finally made the demand to be recognized as a man
But it was a silent victory, he left his house that night
And with fright, went out in the world to live the bigger fight

And all lifes live, and all lifes lost
go together to pay the greater cost
A life in the shadows, is a life better lost
to the cause of life’s greater cost

So he was walking up the sidewalk, always armed the cold shoulder
But when the rain hit harder, storms in his mind grew bolder
Every night he closed his eyes, an age of his life past
He was nearly 17 in a 30 year old body cast
You couldn’t tell, he kept himself clean, kept to himself
Family stopped looking after 8 months disregarding they wealth
Milk cartons were faceless, while his mother continued the facelifts
Lost boy left nameless filled with rattling thoughts like snake pits
He traveled across the country, saw sights that were never seen
Hard for most to believe but he was at a point many have never been
I still wonder how he lived, knowing he was a walking death
How he held air so sacred but every night he’d hold his breath
But he’d wake up the next morning, take it as a sign from god
Knowing that he didn’t have to get even just because he was odd
Walked on and walked on, but he never hesitated his pace
Living in the shadows with the race of death in his place

And all lifes live, and all lifes lost
go together to pay the greater cost
A life in the shadows, is a life better lost
to the cause of life’s greater cost

He soon realized that people noticed, old posters that were posted
About a year know and he stole it to keep it in his heart forever noted
The kind of kid who was silent, finally shouted aloud
And all the death around took form of shadows to soon surround
He trusted these entities, and fell back into there arms
They took all of his memories and turned them into charms
They mislead the boy, pretended to be his friends
Healed all his wounds and bandaged the cuts and bends
He thought of it as a chance, saw the light threw a crack
It was the first and the last time he felt a stab in the back
He fell to his knee’s, they brought him closer to his goal
His life had been a train wreck and they supplied the coal
That night he ended it, and finished what was there to start
Because for the greater cost shadows must be relinquished from the heart…

And all lifes live, and all lifes lost
go together to pay the greater cost
A life in the shadows, is a life better lost
to the cause of life’s greater cost

This is just an example, of one in a few
Because the shadows could of inflicted you
You know the people, polite but sad though
Corrupted angels filled with nothing but shadows….
