Rap Poetry

Switched my game up, began making music for the heart
Never knew the real classics, so I took it to the start//
To study the great kings, story-tellers and legends
From the old-school bling, to the pencils they put led in//
To press words to the page, create a form of lit
Didnt start at a young age, don't even know the rappers bit//
In todays mainstream, my lines stay original
So I don't even have the time for subliminals//
Just time to write down the hottest lines year-round
Some of y'all picked up late, but it's aight, you're here now//
Try to catch up with the flow, it runs clear like water
Freezing slow cats in the snow, they're the lamb to my slaughter//
Allusions every couple of lines like a poet
And a couple poets jelous of my skills, man I know it//
So Nas, aint no rhyme scheme, just call it my free-verse
In a game where time ain't free, I'll just give you my fee first

When they play that smart music, ATI goes crazy
So when Rawkus got poppin, i was feeling they raised me//
Such quality coming out, reminded me of my mother
Raising me, so growing up, we had respect for each other//
She had the smarts, I put em into words, writing from the get
Left the game alone, half of these cats aint broke even yet//
So I keep my talent private like the rich keep the cash
For our brothers, back in the days was a bitch, when the lash//
Brought down by the colonizers reached their way down
Downfall in Africa seen still through the baren ground//
People given up on doing good, cause that's played out
Next time you have a message, make sure you stand and shout//
To the masses, if you're planning to make a real change
Just don't go in expecting that you're gunna make some real change//
Some say that life isn't free, I tell em that ain't freedom
So changes in the world, I don't just write em down, I see them
