The 50 Cent Phase

Alright this is one of my very few blogs that I will write. After discussing the failures of the music business we got into a conversation about what was the reason. I think I have found the reason and have a creative way to explain it. No I don't think 50 Cent is the ENTIRE reason why people are saying Hip Hop is failing, but I think his success worked against him. I give 50 all the respect as an artist just like anybody else would, but the "50 Cent Phase" definitely changes the good quality music. This is just my opinion just like you have yours.

I use to be a big 50 Cent fan. I remember hearing "In Da Club" on a burned CD before the single went public (this was back in the days where albums leaked 2 months in advance and singles leaked when it was made). I thought the song was really good and remember telling my friend in the car with me, this is the next big hit. At that time I didn't even know who 50 Cent was, so I researched, found out that Eminem was helping him go big. I remember watching Eminem say "g-g-g-g-g-g-unit" for the first time and honestly it took me like 10 times to listen to, to actually figure out what the hell Eminem was saying, haha. As 50 Cent started coming out I began more intrigued by his music and made the website . The site had a huge buzz with tons of g-unit fans logging on every day. I updated the site as much as possible, help promoting G-Unit with daily news to all the fans world wide. Thisis50.com started up and there was really no point of keeping gunitworld around and putting effort into the site anymore.

Now we get back to the topic of why I think artists like 50 Cent are to blame. 50 Cent's album "Get Rich or Die Tryin" was honestly one of my favorite albums, it had many good songs on there. After that, it seemed like 50 lost his focus and motivation making good music. He doesn't realize it, but many fans do, hell I hear it all the time on my own website. He is not the same artist when he came out and the reason is, he is a made man. He is filthy rich, what's the point of putting effort into something when there is nothing in return? His return when he started was to make money. He made over $150 million last year, how ridiculous is that? When you make that much money and can buy anything you want, you lose your drive in what you are doing.

The best comparison to this, is poker. For anybody that plays poker they will understand this. When you first start out playing poker you are horrible, you lose a lot of money. The more you play, the more experience you gain, the more money you make off donkeys (donkey is a slang for a bad poker player). When you start out playing you might start out at $1/$2 limits, as you get better you can play $5/10 - $200/$300+ no limits. If a poker player is playing the big game, $200/$300 no limit and making literally millions, do you think this player would ever go back to to the $1/$2 games? The answer is no!

That's where 50 Cent is at, he is at the big games and you can tell in his music he has no motivation in his voice like he had when he did GRODT. I have yet to hear decent material from the G-Unit camp since the GRODT Soundtrack. I been a fan since day one, but not so much anymore. There are other artists out there in the game that are still really hard working even with millions in the bank. I don't really think it's 50 Cent's fault, because if you put anybody else in that situation, with all that success, they are probably going to lose motivation too.

LOL so this blog is basically saying you believed 50 is the fall of a whole army of a genre. The thing that we are on right now is the reason for the fall of Hip Hop. And artist making wack music which 50 does fall into that category. Excuse me if that's not what you tryin to say. But that's what I take from it.

So because 50 decides to slack on his music...he brings the entire culture down with him? Is that what your really saying? Because ONE individual doesn't make music as dope as he did when he first started out...Hip Hop is dead? Nevermind the other artists slacking and falling off...its all Curtis's fault?

Wow did you even read the blog? He clearly said it's not all 50's fault, but merely the catalyst of it. Ever since 50 came in got rich real fuckin' quick, people decided to emulate him and cut corners, not to mention other people look at there peers and think wow we are rich so why the fuck are we even do this shit, and bam you have a failing industry.

So please take 50's dick outta your mouth and read between the lines.

lmaooo @ blaming it on 50 phase when in all actually when 50 got popular, da ipod was gettin popular

...how about blaming it on da ipod phase , when u have 30gig, 60gig, 80gig, MP3 Players that u pay $200+ why put out even more money...you might be the biggest fan of a certain artist but sum times sum ppl simply cant spare 10-15 dollars. i mean like no one man could take hiphop down, They said soulja boy was killin HH but not 2 long after dat lil wayne drops & does a Mill out da gate. i think the rappers just need 2 do sumin thing new keep it fresh, Stay hungry, & keep dat consistency. so in all actually u can blame da failin of HH on da new technology, cheap ass fans, & da hi-speed internet (it takes me 2 seconds 2 d/l an album

It's OK to disagree with the article, but don't disagree with it without even reading it.

Obviously 50 Cent isn't the only reason why hip-hop is down right now, but I think the way he came in so quick and got rich, made others think they could do it as well, and then you get all these people making ringtone songs thinking they can get as rich.

nobody has ever in the history of rap come as consistant as 50 has, if hes not putting a album out, hes got a mixtape out, or sumthing, and it's good, even if its him remixing a big song or sumthing, most consistant rapper ever period.

Good read, but I mean, who didn't already think this? This has been obvious since The Massacre... 50 got full of himself and didn't think he needed to show the hunger he showed on GRODT. Bottom line, 50 won't ever be the artist he was back then. Just like Eminem on Encore... I think he just lost inspiration and motivation. Without all the critics, Em has nobody to bitch about i.e. ENCORE (horrible).
