![]() Intro This is a really well done intro that you can put in context of 50 cent. "Why? I deliver." Great intro. My Gun Nice grimy track by fif. The beat and hook bump matching what he`s sayin and he flows over it good. The lyrics are average street lyrics but they go pretty hard as he goes classic 50 vividly describing what he will do to you. Good track to come into the album with, sets up the 50 Cent mood. Beat: 4/5 Verses: 3/5 Hook: 5/5 Flow: 4/5 Replay: Yea Man Down This is a nice track but it ain`t 50`s best flow at the start. He should have talked normal at the beginning but he fixes the flow fast as it goes on which makes it alot better. Interscope messes up the track a bit by censoring the song; even on the dirty version. Because the first verse is censored it turns you off but just keep goin cause its a good song. Basically he`s talkin from the point of view of him back on the street and lurking around in various activities. Its a step up in lyrics from the previous track. Beat: 4/5 Verses: 4/5 Hook: 4/5 Flow: 4/5 Replay: Yea I`ll Still Kill ft. Akon Some more fire from 50, this time Akon laces the track with an addictive hook and the beat is perfect. 50 Cent and Akon explain why they might be in good positions but they`ll still kill you so stop playin with them. 50 Cent`s lyrics are real gritty and the hook gets you in the mood to murk someone, its a nice gangsta song. Perfect cut for the album. Beat: 5/5 Verses: 4/5 Hook: 5/5 Flow: 4/5 Replay: Yea I Get Money Classic 50 right here, this is one of those songs we all love 50 for. His witty remarks and over-confident state. This was the perfect choice for the single. Shoulda came out before all them other ones. Beat: 5/5 Verses: 3/5 Hook: 5/5 Flow: 5/5 Replay: I Get it Come and Go ft. Dr. Dre This is apparently suppose to be In Da Club pt. 2. It dosen`t live up to that hype but its a nice club joint. 50 has a nice mesmerizing flow which makes you forget he`s not really talking about anything but girls and stuff he has and does. The hook might seem weird at first cause hes not harmonizing it with a jingle, however the contrast of 50 Cent`s voice and Dre`s will make you say Bring Em In and have Dre follow up sayin kick em out. Beat: 4/5 Verses: 2/5 Hook: 4/5 Flow: 4/5 Replay: For the hook Ayo Technology ft. Justin Timberlake & Timberland This is the 4th single from Curtis and is an excellent cut. 50 talks about the girls he want to get in bed with and Justin and Timbo make the hook the best part of the song. This is obviously for the pop crowd the only problem with the song is Justin has more of a presence on the track, however that`s usually how it works with hooks. Beat: 5/5 Verses: 3/5 Hook: 5/5 Flow: 5/5 Replay: Yea Follow My Lead ft. Robin Thicke Another track for the ladies. This is a nice slow jam with melodic assistance from Robin Thicke who makes the track oh so good. 50 does the verses averagely as he talks about a girl who he fought with and he just wants her to follow his lead among other things. Even though the lyrics are basic they are somethin different from 50 as its real light with slow tempos and you`ll defiantly be into the hook and beat. Another great cut. Beat: 5/5 Verses: 3/5 Hook: 5/5 Flow: 5/5 Replay: Yea Movin On Up A nice track from 50 here, the flow is kinda weird but you`ll get use to it as the song goes on. The hook is memorable but the track seems like its just filler as 50 just tells you how he moved up and how he is now. Its an average track at best. Beat: 3/5 Verses: 3/5 Hook: 4/5 Flow: 3/5 Replay: Nope Straight To The Bank Just a track from 50 about money, a nice cut for the album though we all heard this many months back so its pretty old now. However it is a nice track to bump and Yayo makes the hook get stuck in your head as you randomly will walk about laughin at your lunch money your mom gave you thinking your a guerrilla or some shit like that. Ha ha hahahahaha Beat: 4/5 Verses: 3/5 Hook: 4/5 Flow: 4/5 Replay: Ha ha hahahaha... No its old now Amusement Park Candy Shop`s workers moved into a bigger place of employment with less salary. Beat: 4/5 Verses: 2/5 Hook: 4/5 Flow: 4/5 Replay: Depends on your PDR level Fully Loaded Clip Hmm... this is a mixtape type track. Someone must have clicked the wrong thing when putting songs on the CD... yea lets go with that. Another old song to follow up those 2 other old songs, I`m sure you heard this no need to describe. Beat: 3/5 Verses: 3/5 Hook: 4/5 (Mmm mmm kissin) Flow: 3/5 Replay: No Peep Show ft. Eminem This is a nice club song from 50... but its not that good. You`ll more so like the beats than even find time want to figure out what 50 Cent is talkin about. However the hook will get you into it. But we all know we only listened to the song because Eminem is on it right? Eminem goes... funny on the lyrics, his verse is pretty average but the immaturity in it makes is funny for a moment and will remind you a little bit of Slim.. even if only for a moment its worth it... ahh the good ol days. Beat: 4/5 Verses - - * 50 Cent: 2/5 * Eminem: 3/5 Hook: 4/5 Flows -- * 50 Cent: 3/5 * Eminem: 4/5 Replay: I shit on ya chest yo Fire ft. Nicole Scherzinger & Young Buck You`d think this was a nice club track but it`s really kinda lame once you listen to about 45 seconds of it... then you start thinkin what the fuck after the hook starts too annoy you a whole lot. 50 Cent laces the track with some bad lyrics. The only think really good about this song is the beat. See these are typical 50 Cent club lyrics, even though the beat is good I think it would have been better if 50 had another one and Nicole and Buck weren`t on it, or at least buck spit a verse instead of some retarded lines that didn`t make much sense. Beat: 4/5 Verses: 2/5 Hook: 2/5 Flow: 3/5 Replay: Wattttterrrrr... uh oh bad joke but eventually you`ll get it All of Me ft. Mary J. Blidge Back to some good music after that load of garbage and old songs.. great. Now this is a nice track giving you a lil introspective into 50 Cent`s state of mind as he explains it to an unnamed woman apparently characterized by Mary who keeps gives the track the edge it needs to take it to being a great song. All that good stuff laid on the perfect beat for the tone. Nice work Fiddy. Beat: 4/5 Verses: 4/5 Hook: 5/5 Flow: 4/5 Replay: Yea Curtis 187 Classic 50 Cent. 50`s on that grimy stuff right here that`s not just randomly sayin i shoot you. This is what we remember liking, the vivid stories of his past life, he steps up the lyrics a lil bit (I was a snotty nose, nappy head, dirty ball nigga/ Sayin i can`t wait til i get a lil bigger/) and the harmonizing hook is perfect over the beat produced by Havoc. Some more good work here. Beat: 4/5 Verses: 4/5 Hook: 5/5 Flow: 5/5 Replay: Yes Touch The Sky ft. Tony Yayo Get ya hands up high, gah Yayo got me again with his weird ass voice on a catchy hook which is set by Yayo ago. 50 Cent does nice job explainin why he`s the best at what he does only problem is he has 1 verse to do it, seems like he could have went into it a lil more and left Yayo on the hook. Yayo comes into the second verse and finishes the album with an average verse that doesn`t really fit what 50 was just sayin. This track could have been alot better, not too bad but not amazing. The album could have went out with a better track. Maybe shoulda left that Bonus on here normally. Beat: 4/5 Verses - - * 50 Cent: 3/5 * Tony Yayo: 3/5 Hook: 4/5 (Put ya hands-.. fuck he did it again) Flow: 4/5 Replay: Maybe for the hook Overall Does 50 come through on his promise to make an album in between The Massacre and Get Rich or Die Tryin'? No. He just barely misses his goal, this album has enough hype and hits to do what he was attempting but 5 songs from the album came out that were all singles and 2 of them are played out but still on the album. Now see what I`m gettin at it what 50 himself said, you get one first impression. If we hadn`t already heard most of the real hit singles or he had replaced Amusement Park, Fully Loaded Clip & Straight To The bank then this album would defiantly be bumped up into the classic 50 range. The good thing about 50 is he always delivers and even his bad stuff is catchy because of the hook not necessarily the lyrics cause he was never really a good word smith, or at least he has showed he can be he just doesn`t feel like doing so. Anyway at the end of the day, Curtis is a solid entertaining album with many great tracks that have alot of replayability and a block of tracks you never want to hear again. The only way you can think this is a true classic album is by somehow living under a rock in the middle of no where and you some how avoided the on onslaught of 50 Cent advertising, cause I swear I heard Bin Laden bumpin I`ll Still Kill in the background of that tape he put out.... man I`m goin to hell. Score: 3.5/5 - Above Average Grading System Editors Note: Don`t just say propz, leave ya own views on the album.

I liked the review man but I'm surprised you gave it a 4/5 after reading your overall summary (which I did agree with).. 3.5, at the highest.

I liked the review overall. I think that a couple of tracks he could have put the lyrics a little lower, like ayo is a 3/5 I would have gone 2/5 i mean his flow is on spot, I like when Fif spits fast, he does not do it much. There are a lot of basic rhymes, but it is on the stuff he wants to sell in pop and he has repeatedly said that people try to be too smart in hip hop people right now what simple club tracks.
He does come through we some great lyrics.... 50s flow is almost always amazing and he makes really good hooks. I like when he enters more of a story telling mode verse just bragging, I am really feeling Ill Still Kill, Man Down & Curtis 187. Everyone says 50 isn't lyrically but to put it in his own words...."my pictures painted through word that make a blind man see!" He does a great job of bringing his lyrics to life, he picks them well and he has some great punch lines..... to me this is being lyrically (so is being like Talib & Common and kanye with Diamonds...dead prez, etc). Favorite lines: "Ask Preme 50 don't back down I keep it funky like fiends in the crackhouse" "Southside, I make the best of the worst we gotta share the same bitch ok ill go first." "and got more whips than a runaway slave" .....I can't even believe 50 was willing to go here.....WOW!!!! "but history repeats itself they never learn the units the new Bebo who gonna be Eddy Byrne!" |

Oh and I definitely agree about a block of tracks that are old or not that great.... he should have replaced track 9-14.... I mean i like some of the old ones ok, but its just not fresh.....however considering 3 tracks are old he still has 13 tracks music tracks and kayne had 13 tracks.... so it is a good amount of music.

good review, i agree with most of it. the block of old tracks wouldn't seem so old if he had split them up though and if he did that and ended the album with all of me this album would be better overall.

Good review. Throw a review of smile in there when you hear it cause that is a good vintage 50 song.

As of now for me Curtis might be the same or a lil bit lower than the Massacre. For one, Get Rich is too tight to beat. Plus I don't know if he can beat it, it was his "first" album and when you make that it's fresh, hard to mess with. Now one big mistake I think 50 made was releasing so many songs. Since April he's had singles comin out like crazy.
April - Straight to the Bank and Fully Loaded Clip (although on the low) May - Amusement Park June - I Get Money July - Ayo Technology And we already heard Follow my Lead before that came out. That's six, four official and while the album is 17 cuts, 16 are songs. So there were ten songs we hadn't really heard. And some were good, like Come and Go, My Gun, Fire, at least for me. I know that's debatable. But if he released like Straight to the Bank in April or May, and then I Get Money in June to July, then that would've been fine. And the rest would have been new. Fully Loaded Clip imo was too good of song to get no attention as a single even though it was released. But yea agree/disagree, that's how I see Curtis. But shit it's just the first day for me so it may get better. Overall I see it matching the Massacre, but as far as in sales, it probably won't do as much. And that's just because people don't buy albums anymore. |
