Alright, everyone who's computer saavy prolly knows more about this and what it is but for the sake of the uninformed i'll explain it myself, considering my compter's been victimized by this savage beast of a virus twice.

Antivirus 2009, whether anyone super computer saavy classifies it as one or not, is a threat to your computer. There's no legitimate way I can say watch out for this virus, because the shit works like a blitzkrieg/ambush thing. You'll be browsing the internet, click the wrong link and simply going to the website will automatically trigger Antivirus 2009. You'll probably be scrowing and what looks like a windows alert will pop up and even if you click cancel it'll lead you to the Antivirus website, correspondingly uploading (without your knowledge) a trojan into your computer. The effects are different but if you're in THAT situation don't download it because it only grows worse.

When in your computer this trojan uploads more torjans and viruses into your computer and it gets worse and worse. One person couldn't go to google because it'd always pop up Antivirus 2009. Another had their desktop wiped out, to those who don't download it you'll still find yourself bombarded. Yes, even if you X out the pop up Antivirus opens no matter what. Downloading it is the worst, it acts as a fake scanner and shows false threats all the while most likely putting more viruses in your shit. I tried to do a system restore but all of my restore points were gone (even though I hadn't downloaded it) and it'd already began messing my stuff up. Download it and most likely your desktop will be wiped out to the point you can no longer use your computer.

Solution is grabbing your best firewall and turning it on. You want to block the thing as soon as it attempts to come up because it uploads the trojan without your knowledge. If you have a firewall blocking the shit it should pop up saying it stopped it or whatever, but I wouldn't go off of that because they had a 2008 and a 2007 which means they've prolly gotten better at slipping around firewalls. The virus itself manifests itself when you search it's name on google, which would hinder you even fixing it. You want to download a program called Malware Bytes if it's in your computer, I went to a site to fix it and it was one of the things recommended. Last i'd prolly suggest something solid like AVG if it's in your computer, and overall I ended up doing a system restore out of fear for my computer's health (didn't want it getting worse). I ended up having to reinstall everything I originally had installled and overall it was a sucky experience.

There are variations of it and different ways of removing it. I know it was a lot to type but I think out of all the viruses this is the worst because it's the easiest to get. A lot of people are getting it and i'm just being cool about it. I also heard Mozilla Firefox would do a better job of blocking it than IE, but anyoen could've figured out it'd fight back better than the other. Anyways, it's in different web pages (some of which don't have warnings on google) so i'd recommend being careful on what you click on more than usual.

I had one version of this on my old computer , but it didn't fuck it too badly. But, yeah, I see it a lot, but it looks I'm pretty protected from it now.

As long as you have a good firewall up like..WHILE you're browsing I think that may stop it from slipping anything in your computer. I recently almost got MS Antivirus 2009 but closed out really quick. This other window was annoying me so I opened up task manager and I was surprised to actually find that MS Antivirus was still secretly open in another window. So word to the wise, if you do get it and close it out check your task manage. I also hear the process is antivrus or something like that. I closed the whole thing out.

You have Vista right? What firewall you got?

I used to use ZoneAlarm with XP but now I jus hav the Vista firewall turned on because I tried a few Vista firewalls but they fucked up so I got rid.


EDIT: My Netgear router has built in firewall so im properly protected right even tho I gots a shitty software firewall??
