There are actually a few endings..

The 2007 version is where she screams downstairs, he follows down, she kills him, she comes back up and sits there with the knife for days and then the cops come and shoot her.

The 2009 theatre version is where the guys body is thrown at the camera.

And apparently there is another version where she slits her throat infront of the camera.

Alternate / Edited endings

Several blogs and news outlets are reporting that the ending currently being seen in theaters for the limited screenings does not match endings previously seen in earlier screenings at Screamfest and the Burbank screening. There is a frame from one of the alternate endings, found online, wherein a catatonic Katie is seen sitting, alone, next to the bed in the bedroom after the apparent murder of Micah downstairs.[5] A third ending was also shot showing Katie returning with a knife while possessed and slits her own throat in front of the camera. The ending currently attached to the release of the film was suggested by Steven Spielberg.[6] Many reviewers have expressed discontent with this ending saying that, while it matches the mood of the rest of the film, it comes off as anti-climactic and does not do justice to the rest of the film.

The original ending, as attached to the video distributed to potential distributors, has Katie come back up stairs wielding a knife and having blood on her tank top. She sits next to the bed throughout the remainder of the night and next day until the phone rings, the answering machine picks up, later that day around 9:15, Amber arrives and comes into the house (off camera) and finds Micah's body downstairs, she screams and runs out of the house (off camera). The police arrive later (9:51pm) and search the house, eventually coming up the stairs into camera view, finding Katie sitting by the bed with the knife. Katie then stands up, knife in hand, seeming confused and walking towards the officers saying "Micah?" After warning her to drop the knife, the police shoot her and then discover the camera to end the film.

both endings are good, the 07 ending is good cuz it makes the whole movie look more real, but the 09 takes all the suspense you feel throughout the whole movie and throws it in your face at the end.

are there other movies like this around?

The Blair Witch ending kills both of the endings in Paranormal Activity imo. But over all Paranormal Activity just beats Blair Witch simply because i hated that annoying bitch in Blair Witch.

I read in a few blogs about how Steven Speilberg could only watch half of Paranormal activity cos he was spooked and thought his dvd was haunted or someshit LMAO.
Too much hype, it is good but even The Exorcist from the 80s murders this movie.
