pro tools has hardware it comes with and shit....also it dont run to well on reg computers u would need like a apple computer for it to run how it should

Nigga... You Cant Juss Install Protools Like Dat.. You Needa get an Mbox.. thas da Hardware for it.. then you can hook up your preamps n mics w/e else u tryna use

ProTools requires you to use it's audio interface, "mbox" and some other m-audio interfaces are compatible with ProTools.

To make a suggestion, if you already have some sort of sequencing and mixing software rather than investing just to say you have ProTools look into the Waves Bundle package and use it with whatever workstation you currently have.

^......i gave him the waves bundle already.....your better off just using cool edit pro/Adobe 1.5 cuz they do the same exact thing but its more user-friendly then pro tools.........

^^ If your putting together a project i'd recommend something better than cool edit

Cool edit is great but made for chopping, a DAW like Cubase, SONAR, Acid, Abelton, etc. would be better IMO.

My favorite combo is ACID with Waves Diamond bundle. But really it's all the same shit .. ProTools is no better than anything else it's just an industry favorite so thats why it gets put above everything else, but Cubase had the highest ratings VS the 4, so it really jus depends on what you like.

meh,.........if you really know what you doing and have the right CPU requirements then maybe you should expand past AA/CEP.....but i know kats with like 3G's worth of audio equipment that still use and suggest AA/CEP over anything else............

for someone like james who would get lost in about 20 min of using something else other then AA/CEP it'd be stupid.......

Ehhh, ProTools is fairly whack anyway. It's just the "known" for all the studios these days - It doesn't mean it's religion though.

The studio I work at we mainly use Cubase - We have the ProTools setup for the bands that specifically choose it, but, out of all the tech's there, we all prefer the freedom of Cubase and the amount of extra shit you can add onto it.

But yeah, what people in here said was right - You need an MBox to run it.
