first of all, if you put a period in between two letters, your usually pronouncing each letter on its own, not as one word

Thats is what I am saying... it was more nameplay than wordplay though. For example, are you saying it would of worked if he would of said J.O/ JO/ Joe?

Yes it would, but what is the point of that when the average person should be able to make the connection between the abbrevieation and Jo which is the same as Joe?
