I'm pretty sure Jay-Z has influenced some of those you mentioned.
So can we agree Pac and Jigga are two of the most influential rappers?

![]() ![]() ![]() , secondly, from all the artists i have talked to, interviewed, read interviews from, heard talkin bout it on the mic, etc, pretty much 90 percent of them say pac, Tupac has influenced more ARTISTS than anyone in the rap game, wether that makes him the most influential artist overall, u decide but jay z isnt even close to the level of tupac when it comes to influence or quality music, there is so many more artists that have influenced more artists than jay z.......... Run Dmc, B.I.G. NWA, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, just to name a few.......and Tupac did it in a matter of a few years...amazing....but i dont really expect you youngins to know this....keep in mind when pac dropped 'me against the world' album most of ya'll were still droppin shit in ya diapers....to say jay z or any of these fools have influenced just as many ARTISTS as Pac is just foolish...i think u meant to say Jay Z wuz himself influenced by just as many, if not more RAPPERS LYRICS than anyone else....and it shows

T.I., Wayne, 50, Wale, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Charles Hamilton, Asher Roth, Black Milk, Game, Fabolous, and some others have cited Jay-Z as one of their influences. @ young a :/

rakim shits on anybody in terms of pure influence in hip hop. all the major artists from the 90's were influenced by him, so all the rappers today who were influenced by the major artists of the 90's also have rakim's influence. you can't compare hardly anyone to rakim in terms of pure influence.
pac, jay-z, nas, wu tang, 50, eminem, among others have all cited rakim as an influence. how can you compare anyone else to that?

Maybe I was a little premature, but I've always heard/seen rappers cite Jay-Z and Rakim as one of their influences, a lot more than I've heard/seen Tupac mentioned. Maybe that's just from the rappers i listen to. . . :( @ young a, I didn't say Jigga was the most influential. Rakim is, who I voted for. didn't mention Jim Jones either ---------------- Now playing: via

rakim was pac's favorite rapper. so everyone who was influenced by pac was also influenced by rakim.

i dont remember rakim ever saying he looked up to run dmc. we're talking about who influenced the most people.. everyone you guys are arguing over about who is the most influential NAMES rakim as either their main influence or one of their main influence. you can't say that about Run DMC or anyone else.

i listen to everything, im not debating that Rakim wuz dope and influenced alot of peeps for the record...i could care less who influenced more peeps i listen to both Pac and Rakim and daddy kane, who is underrated...they all influence me so its whatever my only point wuz that u can ask almost any artist around today and i can tell you almost every one is gonna say pac while i think only bout 75 percent will say rakim...i think its close but i think pac made so many dif types of records thats what sets him apart....that and the quantity of music he released in such a short time.....that inspires damn near everyone to be honest EDIT: yes Rakim has listen Run DMC as one of his only influences many times...as has eric b.....

rakim totally redefined lyricism though. i wouldn't disagree that pac, jay-z, nas, etc. all influenced a lot of today's rappers.. but rakim influenced both the rappers of today and the rappers who influenced those rappers. no one has had more pure influence on emcee-ing (i assume thats what we really mean by in hip hop since its all emcees in the list) than him, regardless of who would get the most "votes."

I'd say that every rapper on that list has called Rakim an influence, Lil' Wayne probably being the only exception, but take a look at his rapping. :\
Kool Moe Dee is actually probably the most influential rapper, without the rappers knowing that he's so influential.
